The moderating effect of competitive intensity on foresight capability and product innovation of SMEs in Indonesia

This study aims to understand the performance of SME’s product innovation by relating it foresight concept SME owners or managers and moderating effect competitive intensity. It employs a quantitative research method using survey. paper studies SMEs from West Java Province Indonesia in three industrial sectors: food, fashion, handicrafts. These sectors were chosen because they are most competitive, their consumers change rapidly. Data collected through structured questionnaire. A total 200 questionnaires distributed, 190 returned, 187 used for data processing. Furthermore, analyzed exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory (CFA), structural equation modeling (SEM). The results show that networking, time horizon, can affect (p < 0.05). competition intensity does not relationship between performance, although there is networking horizon. this provide insight Indonesian SMEs, especially Java. Foresight skills trained will make them accustomed facing high-level competition, horizon dimension. However, on other hand, high reduce collaborate with various related parties.
